Art Room

The Art Room fosters healing and self-discovery through the transformative power of artistic expression. It is a safe and inclusive space where students, regardless of background or artistic ability, can explore their emotions, communicate without words, and embark on a journey of personal growth. The Art Room is intended to empower students to navigate life's challenges, promote mental wellbeing, and cultivate a sense of community and connection.

Makers Hours

Makers Hours are open to all students to create their own art expression or engage with a guided intervention. No sign up is required to participate in Makers Hours, just drop by. Stay as long as you'd like, this time is for self-led exploration.

Makers Hours are Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the semester from 2-4:30pm.

Classes for the week of 4/15 & 4/17

Monday:  According to moma.org “Surrealists played the game Exquisite Corpse to stimulate creativity through collaboration. Players would contribute to a drawing of a figure without seeing what the others had done. Like a game of Telephone, the figure would become stranger with each player’s addition.” Come to the Art Room to add a section to our exquisite corpse drawing. Once you finish your section, we fold it over, out of view to the next contributor, who adds on to the bottom of your drawing, and so on. Come stimulate your creativity and collaborate with others to create something strange, silly and unique.

Wednesday: Do you find yourself needing a break as you lead into finals? Come to the Art Room and decorate your own Do Not Disturb sign to take home. Creative interventions lower cortisol and creating your own Do Not Disturb sign can help you feel more grounded and remind you that not only is it okay to take a break, but breaks are an important way to rejuvenate.
