UVA Student Health and Wellness (SHW) and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) recognizes the impact of tragedy on individuals and the community, and we are working to support the health and well-being of all UVA students. Below is a list of supportive resources that may be helpful in processing and coping with grief and other emotions at this time.
Welcome to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)!
CAPS is the primary student mental health clinic on Grounds. We are committed to providing a safe and affirming environment for all students seeking to improve their mental and emotional well-being. In addition to direct care, we provide consultation and referral services for students, faculty, and staff. You are welcome to contact us about emergency or ongoing concerns about yourself or another student you care about.
- All students who pay the comprehensive health fee with their tuition have free, 24/7 access to virtual mental health services through a CAPS and TimelyCare partnership.
- Services include virtual counseling visits, an on-demand service called TalkNow (allows students to connect with a mental health professional within minutes, any time of day, either by phone or video), and psychiatric care. Access care by downloading the app at timelycare.com/uva.
- For life-threatening emergencies, please call 911. If you are in crisis and need to talk to someone immediately, utilize TimelyCare's TalkNow 24/7 service via the TimelyCare app.
