Patricia (Tricia) Chesson, MPH
Patricia (Tricia) joined the Office of Health Promotion in 2020 as a Health Promotion Specialist – Healthy Relationships. Her role at OHP is to oversee the Hoos Got Your Back bystander education intervention, collaborate with the Culture of Respect Educators (CORE), and work collectively to cultivate a culture of sexual respect at UVA. Throughout her career, Tricia has served as an educator, youth mentor, and researcher to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights in Thailand, Myanmar, Uganda, and North Carolina. She values cultural humility, intersectionality, health equity, and reproductive justice as frameworks to guide her work. She loves working with youth and young adults and is excited to join the UVA community. Tricia is a double Tar Heel having earned her MPH from Gillings School of Global Public Health and her BA in Global Studies from UNC. In her free time she enjoys journaling, reading, exploring new places, soaking up nature, and snuggling with her pup, Spud.
