Gibson, PsyD, JD

Kate Gibson, PsyD, JD

Kate is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who received her doctorate from The George Washington University.  She has been at CAPS since 2006.  In 2015, she piloted a position at the School of Law focusing on mental health services for law school students.  Her areas of clinical interest include identity formation, women's issues, cultural and multicultural issues, professional school challenges, and mood disorders.  Kate works from a relational, cultural, and psychodynamic perspective.  She focuses with her clients on increasing their understanding and acceptance of themselves while working toward change.  She worked as an attorney in Washington, DC for eight years before entering the profession of psychology.  In her free time, Kate enjoys exploring the region's history and natural beauties, travel, and supporting the UVA Women's Basketball team.
