Sexual and Reproductive Health Services

Student Health and Wellness (SHW) is committed to providing high-quality and confidential sexual and reproductive health services that are inclusive and culturally sensitive to the identities, needs, and experiences of all UVA students. Our team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff has the expertise to provide comprehensive preventive services, and problem visits. We recommend all students schedule yearly visits to promote healthy living and prevent illness. Services are available to students who have paid the comprehensive fee with tuition.

SHW providers can guide you through comprehensive reproductive health services including:

  • Birth control

    • Consultations and prescriptions
    • IUD and Nexplanon Implants: (Please schedule a birth control appointment first to discuss your options and to get your device ordered)

    • Emergency contraceptive appointments (Due to the time sensitive nature of emergency contraception, please call 434.982.3915 to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. Request to speak to a nurse if a same-day appointment is not available.)

  • Pregnancy counseling about reproductive choices, with appropriate referrals

  • Pre-pregnancy planning consultation

  • STI screening and treatments

  • HIV prevention (pre and post exposure)

  • Immunizations for HPV

  • All other sexual health concerns regardless of gender
