Will Wamaru (he/him) joined the Division of Student Affairs in August 2024 as an Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for Care and Support Services. In this role, he provides general non-clinical support and crisis response that helps students thrive at UVA. His background is in experiential outdoor education, organizational intercultural competence, and enhancing exceptional student experiences.

Prior to joining UVA, Will served as the Dean of Equity and Belonging and Senior Class Dean at Proctor Academy in New Hampshire for four years. Before that, he was a senior faculty member at the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), where he taught and supervised leadership training on extended backpacking and mountaineering courses. 

Will earned his BA in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of Nairobi in 2010, and completed a Social Impact MBA in 2020 from the Heller School of Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University."
