Katherine (Katie) Mars joined the Office of Health Promotion in 2020 as the Health Promotion Specialist: Men’s Engagement. In this position, Katie works to engage men and masculine people in discussions regarding healthy masculinity and its intersections with topics such as mental wellbeing, gender-based violence prevention, and social norm reconstruction. She is passionate about the intersections of public health and gender equity, specifically regarding violence prevention and gender norms. Katie’s previous professional experience includes international child safeguarding, community organizing, and gender-based violence prevention. She has a Master of Arts degree in International Development from University College Dublin and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health Studies and Human Service Studies from Elon University. She hails originally from Doylestown, PA and is a big Philadelphia sports fan. Katie enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music, and pretending she is on HGTV by doing minor housework projects.
