Bio

Debbie is a licensed clinical psychologist who joined CAPS in 2016. She received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She has worked with adolescents and adults from many cultures, representing over two dozen countries. She has served as a Staff Psychologist at George Washington University and a Sports Psychologist at George Mason University. She uses an integrative approach to psychotherapy that is grounded in psychodynamic theory and incorporates interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness theories and skills. She is a generalist with specific experience in helping university students with personal development, relationship, academic recovery, substance abuse, and trauma related issues. She has expertise in working with student athletes and performing artists on performance enhancement and leadership development. Dr. Wilson chairs the NCAA’s Sexual Assault Task Force, serves on the NCAA’s Board of Governors’ Commission to Combat Campus Sexual Assault and is a past chair of the NCAA’s Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct. Prior to becoming a Clinical Psychologist, she was the Women’s Basketball Coach at The Ohio State University for eight years. Debbie enjoys reading, riding horses, and traveling.
