Amber Vernon is a Virginia-licensed clinical psychologist. She completed her doctoral training at Pacific University (Oregon) and her internship through the University of Medicine and Dentistry (NJ). Since returning to Virginia in 2009, Amber has worked in a variety of settings (corrections, community mental health, law enforcement, private practice) before joining the CAPS staff. She uses a collaborative approach to identify questions, explore useful answers, and to apply what is learned in therapy beyond the office doors. Outside of her clinical work, Amber is an adjunct professor at VCU and is on the Board of Directors for Side by Side; a nonprofit serving LGBTQ+ youth in Central Virginia. She loves trying “limited edition” foods, discussing the Fast & Furious movie franchise, and taking naps. Amber describes her personal motto as, “Love well, serve intentionally”.
