Welcome! Immunization appointments can be scheduled online and take place within Medical Services on the second floor of the Student Health and Wellness building.
- Review the Steps 1 and 2 below if you need immunizations for your pre-entrance health form or registration requirements.
- If there are no immunization appointments available online and you need immunizations for your pre-entrance health form or registration requirements, please visit a local pharmacy to receive your required immunization(s). Call ahead to the local pharmacy to confirm availability of the vaccine(s) you need.
- It is important to remember that insurance coverage for the cost of vaccinations will depend on your individual insurance plan—check with your insurance provider if you have questions. Please be sure to upload documentation of the vaccines you receive outside of SHW to the HealthyHoos patient portal.
- Need immunizations for travel? You will not be able to obtain travel vaccines without first having been through a pre-travel counseling appointment. Refer to the Travel Clinic for specific requirements.
- Step 1: Submitting Immunization Records/Missing Immunizations
-
If you have not submitted your immunization record OR you are not sure what immunizations you require, please contact Medical Records BEFORE making an appointment for the Immunization Clinic. Appointments will be rescheduled if you have not yet submitted your immunization record to Medical Records or have not uploaded it to the HealthyHoos patient portal.
- Step 2: Making An Appointment
-
Immunizations will be available by appointment only, Monday through Friday from 8:10am until 4:20pm. To make an appointment, you can schedule online or call Medical Services at (434) 924-5362. If scheduling online:
- Verify/edit your contact information.
- Click the "Appointments" tab on the main navigation bar.
- Choose the day you would like to have your appointment. For clinic, choose the Immunization Clinic. In provider, choose from "Immunization 1" or "Immunization 2." Then choose an Appointment Reason. Make sure you do not choose "Allergy Clinic" or "Allergy Injection" unless you are scheduling your allergy shots. Available appointment times will appear after you click "Continue" so that you can choose the time that is most convenient for you. If there are no suitable times available for the provider you have chosen, return to the search screen, choose the other provider and try again. NOTE: PPD skin tests are not given/placed on Thursdays.
- If you are not sure of your immunization requirements, and/or you are blocked, you can review your immunization record online when you schedule your appointment by clicking "View Immunizations" on the HealthyHoos homepage.
- If you have not yet turned in your pre-entrance health form immunization information or have turned it in less than 2 weeks before your appointment date, please contact Medical Records before your appointment. Note: During busy times, this may involve a wait.
- Students with Medical Services appointments must be checked in no later than 5 minutes after their scheduled appointment time. Please arrive 10 minutes early to allow ample time to check yourself in. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please cancel it so that it can be available to another person. There is a $40 cancellation fee for no-shows. For more information visit our Student Charges page.
