Hearing loops send sound directly from an audio source into a listeners’ telecoil (t-coil) enabled receiver, hearing aid, or cochlear implant improving clarity and understanding.
Hearing Loop Installations At UVA
Hearing loop is available in a number of classrooms and other venues across Grounds (see list below).
Rooms equipped with loop technology are listed below and will be identified by the universal symbol for hearing assistance with a "T" in the bottom right corner.
Assistive listening system information has been added to the 25Live Central Reservation System so you will see when reserving rooms, if a hearing loop system has been installed.
For the system to work, the user must:
- The speaker must use the microphone and venue sound system.
- The hearing aid or cochlear implant user must have and turn on the T-coil in their device or request a loop receivers/listener are available for those individuals who do not have a T-coil in their device or it is not activated by their audiologist.
