COVID-19 Testing

Students who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 can get tested at SHW. Tests are by appointment only and can be scheduled online by making a “COVID Symptoms” appointment via the HealthyHoos patient portal (login using your NetBadge details) or by calling (434) 924-5362. If you have been exposed to a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, please call our Exposure Call Center immediately at (434) 924-5362, press option 2, and leave a voicemail. A member of our ECC team will call you back to discuss if you meet the definition of a close contact and talk through next steps. PLEASE NOTE: The UVA prevalence testing programs (residence hall testing, randomized saliva testing of students, etc) are not being conducted by SHW.

For more information on UVA's testing initiatives, visit UVA's "Testing" webpage.

Testing FAQs:

COVID-19 Assess and/or Test—How Does It All Work?

When you call us for care or testing related to COVID-19, first we’ll ask if you’ve been exposed to someone diagnosed with COVID-19 or if you have symptoms of COVID-19.

EXPOSURE TO COVID-19: We will help you determine if your exposure meets the definition of close contact, provide advice on quarantine, and recommend testing for students who meet the definition of close contact. For all others, we will review public health guidelines.

SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19: If you have symptoms of COVID-19, we will determine the severity and advise accordingly. For mild symptoms, we’ll schedule you for a COVID-19 test at SHW (usually within 48 hours). For moderate to severe symptoms, we’ll ask you to come in for an in-person appointment and a COVID-19 test.
